WISE100 nominations go live!

Nominations for the first NatWest WISE100 (Women in Social Enterprise) have today opened to recognise 100 leading women in social enterprise. Created by the NatWest SE100 Index, the WISE100 highlights the leading role of women in the social enterprise sector.

Introducing the WISE100

In the UK, 40% of social enterprises are led by women, in comparison with just 6% of the companies on the FTSE100. The social sector is undoubtedly a forward thinking one when it comes to gender equality, supporting a diverse and inclusive leadership that is sure to benefit both business and society. There is still however, more that can be done.

The end of the unicorn, long live the cockroach

The Chicago Tribune decried the end of the unicorn, being Evernote in this case, as something we ought to take notice of. Are valuations of tech companies in bubble territory? Possibly but not necessarily if, as in the case of Amazon, enough market share is captured in the growth stage with monetisation of products or services being switched on over time.

2015 SE100 Awards, made by Rowan

This year, the beautiful trophies for the NatWest SE100 Awards were hand-made by Sarah Nibbs, ceramic artist and tutor at Rowan.

Rowan is a Cambridge based arts centre and charity for learning-disabled people. Using the arts, Rowan provides a safe, creative and enriching environment where learning-disabled people can grow, raising their abilities, confidence and self-esteem. Rowan believe these to be vital ingredients for independent living, health and wellbeing.

Thanks again to Rowan and Sarah for the gorgeous creations.

The RBS SE100 is hiring!

Designers of the RBS SE100, Matter&Co., are currently looking for a full-time project assistant to help with delivering the SE100 in 2015. The lucky person will also get the chance to assist on other Matter&Co. projects such as Good Deals social investment conference.

The 2014 RBS SE100 award winners have been announced! Over 1,350 social enterprises entered, 27 were shortlisted, but only 5 won a share in our £32,500 prize fund.

The 2014 RBS SE100 shortlist has been announced!

The RBS SE100 awards 2014 shortlist has been announced! Check the list of 27 organisations who made it into the running for a share of £32,500 prize funding. 

The 2014 shortlist sees a super strong reprensetation from the North West and the East Midlands - clearly strong regions for social enterprise at the moment! And, as ever, the Health and Social Care sector shows its success with its representation on the list.

We're making a few changes to the Index which will increase the validity of our data, but we need you to make sure you stay updated!

Fill in your profile for the 2014 Awards!

The RBS SE100 Index is now collecting data for entries into this year’s Awards!

-deadline, 30th September 2014

If you’re already a member of the SE100 Index and have claimed your profile, entering into the awards really couldn’t be quicker or easier. All you need to do is update your most recent Annual Return! Just go to your profile and click on your most recent financial year for which you have data.
