Agent Academy: A case for kindness

I have spent a lot of time over the years reading and understanding the science behind why a very direct road to personal happiness is to help others. I have enjoyed the happiness felt when I have put myself out for another and also noted the how slowly and subtly this can slip away as I become more introverted and selfish in my thinking and doing. As a practicing Nichiren Buddhist though it is my responsibility to approach life with this outward looking view.

This our first blog post so I want to tell you a little about myself and this project. I’m Mike Donovan the Founder and Chair of Bermondsey Community Kitchen. I was born at home in Bermondsey, 50 Wilson Grove, of off Jamaica Road in 1954 and have lived in Bermondsey for all of my 61 years of life. Back when I was born there wasn’t any postcodes and if you wanted to call people on the telephone you had to dial ‘BER’ first!
