Why run 'another' startup event in London...

...was a question we recently got asked on social media as we promoted South London's biggest startup event, Startup Brixton.

The short answer - because we wanted to. And below, the long answer. For the last 2 years we've worked tirelessly at Hatch to support young entrepreneurs and those looking to start a social enterprise get it off the ground. We've worked with over 100 entrepreneurs to test and grow their ventures.

Empowering people to take control of their health and wellbeing

In 2012 we were commissioned by Halton CCG to design and develop a social model of health called ‘Community Wellbeing Practices’ that would integrate with all 17 GP practices in the borough. The model has three domains: community navigation; social prescribing and asset based community development approaches. A team of non-medical Community Wellbeing Officers work between the GP practices and the wider community and support patients who have been referred by their clinician (or self-referral) because social problems are causing or exacerbating their health problems.
